Xavier Jambon

D'accord, voici une version plus fluide et naturelle en anglais :

Born in 1970 in Bègles, Xavier Jambon is a Bordeaux-based artist. From an early age, he showed a strong artistic sensitivity, first drawn to comic books before discovering painting at the age of twelve when he received a book on Watteau. From then on, painting became his passion.

Largely self-taught in the early years of his career, he joined the Academy of Fine Arts in Bordeaux at twenty-six, training for three years under his mentor, Jan Vuijk. He later taught there for a year until the academy closed.

Initially influenced by comic book art, Xavier Jambon gradually shifted towards a more classical painting style, inspired by the great Italian Renaissance masters like Michelangelo and Raphael. Moving away from direct references, he creates figures with striking anatomical precision, carefully composed against minimalist backgrounds. While he remains dedicated to traditional techniques, he ultimately replaced oil paint with acrylic, which allows for a faster workflow.

Though composition is central to his work, color also plays a key role. The deep ultramarine blue that serves as the backdrop for some of his figures is the result of two years of research, an attempt to recreate a shade he once saw in a dream. More recently, he has also embraced black-and-white painting. With a straightforward approach, he simply states that his goal is “to create beautiful paintings”—a goal he achieves with brilliance.
